Once again celebrated for its quality and value, Brooklyn College is again ranked among the leading colleges by U.S. News & World Report.
Specifically, in the North region Brooklyn College ranked No. 38 in Best Colleges, up from No. 63 last year; No. 7 in Top Performers on Social Mobility; No. 14 in Top Public Schools; and No. 17 in the Best Colleges for Veterans category.
Brooklyn College also retained the highest “Campus Diversity Index” number for the sixth straight year. Realizing that students may want to consider the racial and ethnic diversity of a college campus when choosing a school, U.S. News factored in the total proportion of minority students, leaving out international students, and the overall mix of groups. The data is drawn from each institution’s fall 2022 total undergraduate student body.
“U.S. News & World Report has again reaffirmed the quality and value of a Brooklyn College education,” President Michelle J. Anderson said. “Finishing among the leaders in the social mobility category and retaining the highest diversity index is especially meaningful as it proves we are changing the lives of our students and their families for the better.”
Now in their 39th year, the rankings evaluate 1,500 colleges and universities on 19 measures of academic quality, emphasizing social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students. U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with helpful data and information on factors such as graduation rates, social mobility, and graduate indebtedness.
“Selecting where to go to college is a significant life decision, and prospective students today must take many factors into consideration when choosing what is best for them,” says Eric Gertler, the executive chairman and CEO of U.S. News. “Reflecting the shifting landscape of higher education today, the Best Colleges rankings not only evaluate institutions on success in enrolling and graduating students from all backgrounds but also take into account strong post-graduate outcomes so that students and families can make optimal decisions with future success in mind.”
